In true 21st century fashion, an ad on œcraigslist.com sparked the formation of the youthful bluegrass band Moonshine Drive in February 2007. Through this fateful internet connection, banjo player Louis Mazzocca met brothers Marc and Greg Mecoli. With the help of a $75 upright bass and the addition of Jake Calvert on mandolin and Ian Collins on guitar and lead vocals, the band's line-up was complete. Combining traditional and contemporary bluegrass music, fiddle tunes, old-time clawhammer banjo, and that high and lonesome singing, they have been delighting audiences, both young and old, all over the Cincinnati area. In January 2008, Jake left the band to pursue some of that higher education out East and was replaced by Ethan McGory on mandolin. They have traveled across the Ohio River into Kentucky and have ventured as far west as Chicago, Illinois. Moonshine Drive continue to ramble on as one of the youngest and most energetic bluegrass acts in town.
