The best high school athletes in the region compete over three days in all rodeo events. Indiana, Virginia & West Virginia have been invited to join Kentucky students in first class rodeo action. Boys compete in Bareback Bronc, Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, Steer Wrestling and Team Roping. Girls compete in Breakaway Roping, Pole Bending, Barrel Racing, Goat Tying and Team Roping. The only event that boys and girls may compete together is the Team Roping. Buckles, scholarships and prize money are up for grabs in each event. Points earned at this rodeo along with points earned at the state finals rodeo in each state qualify students for a team position at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Farmington, New Mexico the third week of July 2009
